It’s a new assignment for the Recruiter! He or she is anxious to get candidates in front of the Hiring Manager!

So it’s important to you as a proactive Job Seeker to be near the front of the line, in terms of getting your resume to the Recruiter. And, of course, you want to make a favorable first impression! Here’s what we suggest:

1. Create an online resume, what we call a Candidate Profile. That way, as you see new opportunities, you are ready to act quickly, by emailing your Candidate Profile to the Recruiter. There are lots of advantages to emailing your Candidate Profile, as opposed to faxing or regular mail. First, it’s much faster. Second, it goes directly to the Recruiter. Who knows who empties the fax machine or screens the mail? Third, you can use colors and formatting that help you get noticed. Fourth, and most importantly, an email is easily forwarded on to the Hiring Manager!

Make sure you are among the first to know about new Engineering job postings matching your career interests, geographic preferences and salary requirements. Your Job Alert will send an email every time a new job posting matching your alert criteria is posted to our network of job banks. Then, you can quickly email your Candidate Profile to the Hiring Manager, insuring that you are among the first to apply!

3. Stay Current. It’s important to stay current on key developments, trends, etc. in your chosen profession. Particularly at the interview stage, you must be able to illustrate to the recruiter and the Hiring Manager that you are knowledgeable concerning all the major facets of your profession. There are lots of ways you can do this:

Join a professional club or association.
Take courses or attend seminars.
