Comparing Applicants to a job's Key Success Factors

Perhaps the most useful candidate evaluation tool is the Candidate Match. This tool uses a technique known as "paired comparison testing" to objectively evaluate the activities or duties associated with a job, and determine their relative importance. HireNet provides you with a tool that simplifies the process of evaluating jobs and applicants using this technique.

Use HireNet Candidate Match to select up to job responsibilities, or tasks, compare each task to every other, and objectively determine their relative importance. Typically, one or more people currently performing the job, or supervising individuals performing the job, are asked to provide the evaluation (subject matter experts).

Example

"The 5 major responsibilities of this job are listed below, in pairs. For each pair, simply indicate which of the two items is more important to overall success in the job. You may consider both items in a pairing to be very important, but you must select one that is most important."

Item 1 or Item 2?
Item 1 or Item 3?Item 2 or Item 3?
Item 1 or Item 4?Item 2 or Item 4?Item 3 or Item 4?
Item 1 or Item 5?Item 2 or Item 5?Item 3 or Item 5?Item 4 or Item 5?

Once this process is completed, the relative importance can be determined

Now applicants can be asked to review each pair of responsibilities and, for each pair, indicate which responsibility they feel better matches their skills and abilities.

Example Continued...

"For each pairing, select the one you are better suited to perform. While you may feel you are good at both, select one in each pairing that you feel better complements your prior experience, skills, accomplishments, or abilities."

Item 1 or Item 2?
Item 1 or Item 3?Item 2 or Item 3?
Item 1 or Item 4?Item 2 or Item 4?Item 3 or Item 4?
Item 1 or Item 5?Item 2 or Item 5?Item 3 or Item 5?Item 4 or Item 5?

Now we can compare the Subject Matter Experts' rankings to the Applicant's self-assessment.

The Applicant Profile and the Job Profile are not well-matched.

HireNet Candidate Match can simultaneously compare up to 10 Applicant Profiles to a Job Profile.
